CHOP CHOP LIVE!!!! Saturday Feb 9th 4-6pm Nate Hill shares his techniques on his YouTube show, "Chop Chop." Every month, he creates a new "new animal" on the show. Each 28-minute long episode runs in a documentary film style with no cuts and no script. The viewer is treated to witnessing the hands of Nate Hill sewing together the random parts, as voices of various guest narrators do a "play by play" of the action. The show is completely improvised; the tone is light and often vulgar-but-humorous. Nick Zedd, noted for his status as a celebrated underground filmmaker, operates the camera. This Saturday, February 9th , Nate Hill will be filming a live gallery version of his show "Chop Chop" featuring live announcers, and a great deal of animal parts. Directly following the filming of the show will be a screening of John Kilduff's Episodic rampage: "Let's Paint TV" **********
On the eve of recession, in the face of tradition, and in the spirit of “why the hell not?” Broadway Gallery proudly presents BETTER BEASTS , an art offering curated by Thomas Seely and Gerald Edwards III. For two weeks only, we invite you to come marvel at the creations of the planet’s most volatile animal. From February 1st-15th six artists present eclectic investigations of Man's relationship to commerce, nature and creativity while touching on themes ranging from modern myths to the human tendency to play God. Video, found photographs, rogue taxidermy, painting and installation make up this group show featuring: subversive plastic crowns, men pointing at rifles, a mouse sewn onto a rabbit, the motivating sip of a blended drink, the myth of progress, and the protective eye of the Blue Marlin. With deep fried confidence BETTER BEASTS concludes definitively that "God made Man, but he used a monkey to do it." Opening reception: Friday February 1st, 6-8 pm Broadway Gallery 473 Broadway, 7th Floor, New York, NY Special thanks to all the artists, Abraham, Nicole, Suzie and everyone at NY Arts for their support and encouragement. |
